Help support our disaster relief response to the Vanuatu earthquake!!
On December 17th, the capital city of Vanuatu, Port Vila, was struck by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake. There has been considerable damage throughout the capital and adjacent communities: over 10 buildings have either collapsed or are no longer structurally sound, which includes the hospital where triage tents have been set up outside the rubble. There have also been reports of several landslides, some of which were fatal. The Friends of Vanuatu board believes we are well-positioned to help support the impacted communities and we have begun to marshal a disaster relief response! We have already partnered with the Pacific Island Association of NGOs (PIANGO) and the Vanuatu Association of NGOs (VANGO) to identify emerging needs and to assist those communities most in need.
Please consider making a donation to directly support our disaster relief efforts! You can do so by clicking here:

NPCA NEWS: June 2024
As the individual who signed the NPCA/RPCV groups letter to the Peace Corps on future information sharing, I am happy to share with you the completed letter – signed by representatives of 110 groups – which was sent to Peace Corps headquarters last Friday.
Yesterday, we also forwarded the letter to key members of the Senate and House Appropriations Committees, the heads of the House Peace Corps Caucus, and leaders of the Service Year Alliance, which promotes national service.
We hope this letter will spark discussion among the agency and congress, with movement towards a solution. We can tell you that the development of this letter has already broadened discussions between the agency and NPCA on other vehicles to open up opportunities for information sharing. See the included final letter (pdf) and a December 2023 Senate letter which is referenced in our final letter.

Peace Corps Community for Refugees
World Refugee Day 2023!
Around the globe, World Refugee Day celebrates the strength and resilience of individuals who have to flee their homes and find safety in foreign places. Far from burdening those who welcome them, refugees contribute significantly to their new neighborhoods. Today we’re highlighting three small cities in the U.S. that illustrate how refugees transform and enrich their new hometowns. The newcomers have found a place to realize their hopes, and they, in turn, have given these towns economic and population boosts, as well as the bounty of diversity and fresh perspectives.
