Peace Corps Day

I am happy to announce that Melissa and I will host a WMRPCV potluck on Saturday, March 1, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at our house, 525 Fairview Avenue. March 1 is Peace Corps Day, the date in 1961 when John F. Kennedy signed the Executive Order to create the Peace Corps (this was later codified by Congress). Given the enormous pressure that all levels of service are under with the ruthless slashing of federal programs by the new administration, it will be good to gather to see how we can work together to make sure the important elements of our nation's international presence, like the Peace Corps, can be protected and sustained. We will also, of course, have some great food, fellowship, and enjoyment of each other, as we always do.
