WELCOME!
Welcome to the Western Montana Returned Peace Corps Volunteers' website. Our members started gathering in 1987 when Peace Corps was awarded the "Beyond War Award" and local RPCVs were invited to the University of Montana for a special award reception. After spending time together for a few years at informal events as well as a memorable group road trip to the NPCA conference in Eugene, OR in 1990, we decided to form an official group. A nonprofit affiliate of the National Peace Corps Association since 1992, we hope to help members of the Returned Peace Corps community become and stay better connected. You can find updated group information and links to other sites of interest, including the NPCA website. The NPCA is the nonprofit alumni association at the center of a vibrant Peace Corps community.
The Projects page highlights some of the projects our group has sponsored in the past. Fundraising activity information that help make donations possible is located on the Fundraising tab. The Calendar of Events page lists upcoming events of interest. You can communicate with us through the Contact Us page. Current news that aligns with our group mission can be found on the News page. Official reporting of the financing and activities of our group is on the Financial and Activities page. The Links Page includes links to other humanitarian organizations as well as some personal RPCV websites and blogs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Goat Chase!!! Every year on the second weekend of June we combine our annual meeting with a great weekend of boating, eating, dancing and sharing stories at The Flathead Lake United Methodist Church Camp on the shores of Flathead Lake.
Goat Chasers 2024
********** Who are we? **********
We are a National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) affiliated group representing much of Montana. The majority of our members come from Western and Northwestern Montana, especially from Missoula and the surrounding area. We do have members from all over the state including Helena, Kalispell, Big Timber, Billings and Great Falls. The group in Missoula meets almost once a month for potlucks, community gatherings, and general meetings. With a close relationship with the Peace Corps Recruiter on the University of Montana campus, members assist with a variety of recruitment activities.
Our major annual fund-raising event is the selling of the Wisconsin Group's International Calendars. From these sales, we support many local food banks, soup kitchens and other charitable organizations as well as numerous overseas projects. Most are referred by current members or volunteers in the field. Returned Peace Corps Volunteers from throughout the State, along with friends and family, gather for the annual meeting, the "Goat Chase Retreat" on the shores of the beautiful Flathead Lake the second weekend of June.

TRIBUTE: Dennis Bangs retired from his almost 25 year post as president ("El Presidente") of the Western Montana Returned Peace Corps Volunteers at the end of 2018. He has served us well with great commitment and has been the voice of our group over the years. We honored him at the December 15, 2018 Christmas Party. Below is a short tribute featuring Dennis in WMRPCV activities over the years.
